THE FIRST RULE OF VELCRO® BRAND? NEVER SAY YOU WILL “VELCRO” SOMETHING.

No. Never. Please don’t. VELCRO® Brand is not a verb, a noun, or a stand-alone word. It should only be used like “VELCRO® Brand products” or referring to a specific product such as “VELCRO® Brand straps.”

If I can’t call them “velcro shoes,” what do I call them?

You can identify any non-VELCRO® Brand products by their common terms, including “self fasteners,” “hook and loop,” “closures,” etc. We get it, hook and loop isn’t in our everyday vocabulary, but calling it velcro just wouldn’t be true.

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME

Grey Matter was part of the team that helped to conceive and create a new line of toys that combine soft foam parts with VELCRO® Brand fasteners. It turns out that this was a combination that consumers were waiting for.

Consumers have a very high opinion of the VELCRO® Brand and trust it when it comes to product safety and ease of use. As a result, retailers and parents alike are flocking to these very special toys.

PRINT CREATIVE: DEAD OR ALIVE?

It turns out that print creative is still a big part of the marketing mix. Consumers, especially trade buyers, still like to have something tangible to refer to.

Grey Matter had an extensive role in the marketing build for this exciting new brand. This includes a range of marketing materials like brochures.

e-MAIL CONNECTS WITH PARENTS

Part of our job for VELCRO was to promote their new toy line to parents and e-mail is a natural approach to these key decision makers.

e-mail is a still a fundamental tactic that generates significant sales from the right consumer groups and the campaigns we created fro the new VELCRO® Kids line were a critical addition to a rich marketing mix.

BUT WAIT – THERE’S MORE!

The toy e-mails we created were so successful that we were tapped to create and send a range of e-mails for VELCRO® and their general consumer products business.

TRADE SHOWS CAN BE FUN

As with many of our clients, Grey Matter is delighted to assist at trade shows. We have fun and our clients. In this picture, Ned Barrett (right) is shown with our friend from Velcro, Jim Hillson.
